He is often asked to explain current events relating to his research expertise, including on Southeast Asia, China, US-China relations, and to comment on political developments in the UK.

In print and online, Lee has bylines and has been quoted in many, politically diverse publications, including The New Statesman, The Daily Telegraph, The Morning Star, The Australian, The Spectator, Le Monde Diplomatique and Unherd.

Lee’s radio appearances include LBC, BBC Radio 4, the BBC World Service, Talk Radio, and Monocle Radio. Lee appears often on podcasts, and is a contributing editor at the global politics podcast Aufhebunga Bunga.

He has appeared dozens of times on television, including interviews for the BBC, Al-Jazeera, France 24, and TRT World. His research on COVID was featured extensively in a feature-length Al-Jazeera documentary (pictured). Lee also participates in long-form debate shows on contemporary events.
